marathon man
I mentioned a few posts ago that Mike went up to Minnesota to run a marathon. It’s always been a goal of Mike’s to run a marathon but also to run a specific marathon he grew up near which is the Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth. Of course, he had no intention of trying to win it or anything but just wanted the opportunity to finish it. Although Annie kept asking all week if was going to try to win a trophy. His overall time was 4 hours and 32 minutes. His friend, Buddy, also ran the race with him. Buddy has been a buddy (ha) of Mike’s for about 15 years and was Mike’s best man in our wedding.

Crossing the finish line.

Congratulations Mike! You look like you finished in good shape–you don’t look too miserable.

I always wanted to run grandma’s…. I remember guys back in dental school running it and thinking, “man I’d like to get in good enough shape to run that”. Now I have one serious question, no one laugh please….is the word “PROOF” across the pictures mean that these pictures serve as evidence that indeed he did run and finish the marathon or is it a protective meausure of some company trying to selling you the pictures thus they mark them so you don’t hijak them without paying? Either way, it is funny (or I’m just dumb) or both.

Go Mike!!! I could never do that. I suppose you might have guessed as much since I was sitting on the couch stuffing my face with cinnamon rolls at the Dells while you were outside training in the freezing cold. I’ll stick with my cinnamon rolls…I am pretty good at that but seriously…nice work!

I didn’t even know he was training to run grandma’s. Congratulations Mike, that’s a great accomplishment. Next time you’re in MN please come over we’d really like to see the grils (and you and Jen).
