newsgirls and golf chic

I finally got around to checking off some projects from the long list of projects. However, this time I didn’t use my sewing machine. Instead I got out my handy crochet hook and made these newsboy caps for the girls. As you can imagine, the girls are more than thrilled to wear them. I made the mistake of mentioning my desire to do a photo shoot with the caps and some new outfits they got from a Matilda Jane trunk show that my neighbor had. We ended up being too busy today, but that didn’t stop Annie from asking me about a thousand times if we were going to do a photo shoot. I may have to try tomorrow since we’ve actually got a weekend with nothing planned.

Not long after Violet was born we received a darling golf dress for her from Mike’s cousin Bill. It was too large for her then. I went to put it on her last Sunday for church and realized that she’s almost already grown out of it even though it’s size 3 months. Today she is wearing a jumper that is size 3-6 months, and she’s almost too big for that, too. You realize Violet won’t be 3-months-old until next week. What happened to my little peanut?!?

The hats turned out so cute! The girls look as sweet as candy in them! And I want to drive out, grab Violet and nom-nom-nom on her neck!

  2. Denise says:

She is just SO cute. Are you selling those hats? You should, they are so cute. BTW, what type of camera do you have? (I know it is expensive.)

  3. Julie says:

I agree with Denise and I want those hats for my girls…SO SO CUTE! Maybe you should teach me how to crochet, Ha,Ha! I am pretty sure you would not want to be my friend anymore if you saw how not crafty I am.

Oh my gosh, those hats are the bomb. I love the colors and style. WOW!! And the girls smile and pose so nicely in them. I’m amazed. And little Violet is too cute. She is growing fast. She is just as sweet as can be. I need to meet her, you know. I realize you have Christmas plans, but we are hoping that we can stop by your place on our way home from MN if you are around. Let me know your schedule. I gotta see that baby!!

Jen, Super adorable hats on very adorable girls! Violet is also looking quite huggable. Do you knit also? I knit most everyday, I find it very relaxing. I love any fiber with Alpaca. Are you on Ravelry.com? I’m sure you are since your crafting, if not you should join. Thousands of free patterns for knitting and crocheting, (as well as some for sale) info on yarn, yarn for sale and so much more. A true fiber crafter’s paradise. Glad you’re feeling better, our house is also recovering and I think we’ll be back to normal by Monday.

P.S. Apple pie is so easy, considering the level of your creative crafting skill I think your pie would look much better than mine – I have no patience for making crust look beautiful!

Love the hats! Wondering what pattern you used for them.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments.

    SP-
You are more than welcome anytime to come visit and nom-nom-nom baby V. I’m starting to wonder if the real reason Mike wanted to name her Violet was because of the show V. Hmmm…

    Denise-
I don’t plan to sell the hats because I’m already feeling like I’m getting carpal tunnel from just doing those hats. Making things by hand for a living is hard work. I learned my lesson with those clay photo tiles I used to sell. I have the Canon 5D for a camera. They don’t sell that one anymore. The 7D is what is probably most comparable now. Yes, it’s expensive.

    Julie-
You underestimate yourself. I saw how creative you were with those playdate themes. There’s a crafty bone somewhere inside of you.

    Jenni-
Yes, you need to meet Violet and soon because she’s growing like a weed. If she keeps growing at this pace, she’ll be adult size by the time you meet her. The Christmas plans are still in the works. Let me know what dates you will be close to our neck of the woods.

    Erin-
Thanks! I do know how to knit, but I haven’t actually finished any projects. I have a cardigan in the works, but I’ve frogged it more times than I care to admit and have put it on the way back burner. I discovered Ravelry about a year ago when I was searching for help on the aforementioned cardigan. Just search “Best Friend Cardigan” and look at the some of the comments people have made about the awful pattern for it. I LOVE Ravelry. It’s actually where I found the pattern for the newsboy cap I made for the girls. I’ll post the link for the pattern in a new post since I’ve got others interested in it. You’ll have to share any patterns you’ve found there that you love.

    Megan-
Thanks! It’s a real compliment coming from you because I know how talented you are. The pattern is from Ravelry.com. You need to be a member in order to get it. I’ll post the link.

Feel free to comment, but I do moderate all comments.
